SECURITY CONSULTING
Security Risk Management
Security Risk Management is fundamental in establishing and maintaining an environment that
supports the continuity of service and the availability of key business assets. Security Risk
Management should aim to support the cost initiatives of the organization and enhance
profitability by reducing losses. Risk management is not the prerogative of any particular
specialty. It is inherent in all aspects of business and government. In its widest context,
Security Risk incorporates the sum of Technology, Education and Management.
AS/NZS 4360: 2004, the cornerstone document for IP Risk undertakings, states that:
"Risk management involves managing to achieve an appropriate balance between realising opportunities for gains, while minimising losses. It is an integral part of good management practice and an essential element of good corporate governance."
Risk can be expressed as the possibility of events or activities impeding the achievement of organizational objectives. Risk Management concerns itself with managing the uncertainty that exists in all aspects of our private and business lives.
Security Design & Management
When designing a security plan and developing strategies for the plans' implementation
there are ten principles that should be applied. By adhering to the principles listed the
chances of having a sound security system are enhanced. The principles of security identify
issues that need to be considered when considering how to secure assets and reduce the
opportunity of loss.
Crime Reduction Strategies
Crime has been and will always be a major concern within society. Crime will never be
completely eliminated from society; however the incidence can be reduced through planning
and effective implementation of various techniques, methodologies, strategies and an
understanding of the causes of crime and anti-social behavior.
Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) focuses on the design and management of the environment to reduce crime. Some of the considerations involved include:
- Crime prevention techniques
- Criminology theory
- Principles of design, designation and definition
- Situational crime prevention
- Lighting, natural access control and natural surveillance

Facility Security Management
Facility Management relates to the functioning of an intelligent building, particularly from
the security aspect, but includes the whole of the service building management systems, which
direct access control systems, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, lighting, elevators,
water quality control, courier access and much more.
Best planned at the design stage for cost efficiencies, these systems can still be retro-fitted to upgrade the quality of the building and enhance tenancy prospects.
Effective Facility Management is designed to obtain the maximum effective usage. Insight Protection™ can advise on all aspects of facility management from the concept and design stage through to retro-fitting of intelligent functions into pre-existing building or facility.
